Auction Listings With Large Number Of Watchers

Have you ever had an auction listing which generates a large number of watchers (>25) but then does not generate a single bid? What are some of the possible reasons that this might happen?

The majority of watchers have no interest in buying/bidding, they just want to see what the end result is.

Then they have an idea what their own collection is roughly worth and if they want to sell or hold on. It is a way to observe the market.

I used to do the same, but nowadays I simply put in a bid if I want to buy something. Or give something I want to sell a minimum price.

I have learned that no collection is the same so comparing prices is most of the time useless.

Wrong time of the pay fortnight or monthly one.

Utilities bills etc

The partner has hit the roof on stamp spending. Hopes to make it still happen.

No 1st bid to start it all off.

Isn't it amazing that once that first bid is in the floodgates open.

I am a watcher to see what the final price is for information but I am also rarely the first bidder except near the end.

Since ebay removed the time listed from the gallery display of an ebay category listing, I use watching to mark where I left off yesterday.

I also watch certain categories (e.g., EFO envelopes) to observe the selling price.

Ditto. I am watching certain items to gauge the market and to help price and sell my own listings.
