I was working on filling in my revenue collection and noticed the Scott listing for R687. This is a stamp with a face value of $10,000. R687a is for a booklet pane of 4, unused.

What documents in 1954 needed a $10,000 stamp? who bought a booklet, at the cost of $40,000, in 1954 and never used it?

thanks

Joe

The complete booklet panes of four were disgorged from the National Postal Museum at auction more than a decade ago.

Transfer agents, such as the Bank of New York or Morgan Guarantee Trust, used these stamps when there were large transfers or new issues of stocks and bonds.
