Patricia just messaged me back and stated that she knows the items, the signatures are hers and all is good. |

That misalignment of the cancel from stamp to envelope still bothers me. |

Evidently someone else felt the same way. Part of the circle at lower left is of different color than that at lower right. Looks like pencil was used to complete the tie-on. |

Quote: It might not be the circle of the rubber cancel but the edge of the wooden handle that the rubber is glued to. This is a steel/metal die cancel. Typically for either, there's somewhat more of a space between the cancel and edge of the holder. EDIT: First off, this was asked about an ebay lot so we here, like potential buyers, are limited in what we can see about this cover. That said, no, I still don't think this is genuine in all respects. |

It is possible that the stamp fell off the cover and was sloppily reapplied to the envelope.
It is also possible that the stamp is thinned and was put on the envelope to increase its value many times over.
Where higher priced classic stamps are involved, one should expect anything. |

Patricia Kaufmann told me today that she was familiar with both covers and told me to "have fun bidding!". Now I am reading several folks saying that she is incorrect. What is the story. |

Even with the pencilled name, I still can't convince myself that the stamp originated on this cover. $320 is not a bargain for this, I believe. |

Believe it or not, experts can make mistakes too. That's why expertizing decisions are called "opinions". |
