Anthony's has a dozen ebay auction items with bidders right now that have purported cv's of $1000 and more, much more, that started at $5. Most of them are US classics without certs. It is always stunning to me how many people are capable of deluding themselves into thinking that any of this is real. There are a whole lot of "advanced" collectors out there that are in for a shock come selling time unless they know deep down that they are filling their spaces with fantasy.
The 1857 (and 1861) USA stamps I think are among the most attractive issued by any nation.
With no scan of the back and the perfs looking like they've been tidied up (for want of a better term) I'd be staying away.
As for the double Geneva, surely a forgery? Who starts an auction of a stamp cataloging that high (again with no scan of the back) for $5? The mind boggles...
This company is SO bad, it's almost laughable. Were it not for all the treasure-hunters that are getting duped, one would just disregard Anthony's as a bad joke.
And here is a freshly-listed Scott #8, albeit without the diagnostic broken top and bottom frame lines.... they do call it a "filler", which I guess in Anthony's estimation, should give them a pass on this minor detail.
