Good Evening,

I have a British South Africa Company Rhodesia stamp from 1910 which is 6d and I believe to be almost mauve on mauve. I have been using my color selector and according to my color wheel some parts within the portraits match the frame. The darkest mauve is on the outside frame and I have been selecting those and other colors from the frame for comparison.

I'm looking for further analysis and what program is best for stamp color analysis if you could please.

Thanks for looking

Images on monitors are tough, but this looks like SG144 to me. I assume it is perf 14?

Magnificent stamp design - maybe the best ever in my opinion, at least in the British Empire.

Are you using a Gibbons colour identifier Souldjer777?

Souldjer, to my eye the portrait appears a bit darker than the frame. This would put it in the SG144 group. I use that term because the SG numbers refer to a number of distinctive groups of colours from each printing.

Colour analysis of these stamps is often notoriously difficult, but half of the fun. They are lovely stamps!

One of my favourite reference sites for BSAC/Rhodesia is Deverell & Macgregor http://www.rhodesia.co.za/DOUBLE_HEADS_8.html

Given that your stamp was not scanned on the same scanner one cannot be absolutely sure, but to my eye, comparing it to the examples on the D&M site yours is almost certainly the red-brown and mauve SG144.

For on-screen comparison I find it important to zoom the stamp images up to approximately the same size.
