This small, 2019 Canadian definitive is a very nicely printed, photographic view of Smoke Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park (ON). The Park looks to be a great vacation spot for someone who likes to canoe. Close-up pic shows the stamp's bilingual microprinting. From portagestore.com website, "You can spend days, if not weeks...in Algonquin Park. There are over 1600 kms. of canoe routes and hundreds of lakes and waterways, and it's all flat paddling. Your journey is going to include portages which are a part of every route in the park." |

Here are three stamps featuring Lake Rotomahana, New Zealand. The first two stamps show features of the pre-1886 site. They are the 4d. value of 1898 (S.G. #252) depicting the White Terrace, and the 9d. value of 1898 (S.G. #256) showing the Pink Terrace. The Third stamp is an issue of private courier Fastway Post New Zealand Ltd. It shows post-1886/present-day Lake Rotomahana and its steaming cliffs. From Wikipedia, "It is immediately south-west of the dormant volcano Mount Tarawera, and its geography was substantially altered by a major 1886 eruption of Mount Tarawera...The Pink and White Terraces were a natural wonder on the shores of the lake before the 1886 eruption. They were considered to be the eighth wonder of the natural world and were New Zealand's most famous tourist attraction during the mid 19th century, but were buried or destroyed by the eruption." |

Lake Gault in Westland Tai Poutini National Park is featured on this 50c, domestic rate stamp of private courier Fastway Post of New Zealand. From nzplaces.nz website, "Lake Gault sits in silence atop the bush clad moraine, dark and glimmering...A couple of small clearings with fallen trees for seating are the only creature comforts for visitors to Lake Gault, unless you are introduced to, or stumble upon the secret rowboat. The simple timber vessel which has long lost any sense of ownership or consideration of condition, is fit for two and no more, and may or may not be found stashed carefully in the undergrowth." |

On October 12, 1989 Peru issued this 1300 inti stamp (Sc #961) to publicize the 3rd Meeting of Eight Latin American Presidents held on Oct. 11-13 of that year, presumably at Lake Huacachina, which is shown on the stamp. The Lake is an oddity, because it is a true desert oasis. From escapingny.com, "About four hours south of Lima, hidden in the middle of the desert and surrounded by sand dunes is the village of Huacachina. About 100 people live in the tiny village yet it attracts tens of thousands of visitors per year who come to admire the 'oasis of America'. |
