The 12c (shown here) and $1.20 values of Dominica's 1954-8 QEII definitive series depict Freshwater Lake, the island nation's largest lake. Oddly, the two stamps are inscribed "FRESH WATER LAKE", whereas the internet sources consistently use "Freshwater Lake". From Viator.com website, "Among the myriad natural and geological wonders you'll find in Dominica's Morne Trois Pitons National Park is Freshwater Lake, also known as Warmae Letang. This water-filled volcanic crater sits at around 2500 feet above sea level, and it's surrounded by moss, ferns and lush vegetation of Dominica's interior rainforest." Cancel is Roseau, the nation's capital. |
