The trocaz pigeon is a pigeon which is endemic to the island of Madeira. Protection of the laurel forests and a ban on hunting have enabled numbers to increase, so that the species is no longer endangered.

Ireland's 2011 ATM "Native Animals and Marine Life" set feature's a stamp with the image of a European goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis). This bird is native to Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia.

While Ireland used a photographic image for their goldfinch atm stamp, the United Kingdom used a graphic approach for their 2010 "post & go" computer-vended stamp.

The mute swan (Cygnus olor) is depicted on computer-vended stamps of Ireland (2014) and the U.K. (2011). This bird is native to Europe and Asia, but has been introduced by man to many other parts of the world.

Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting two scarlet macaws (Ara macao), designed by Leonel Pérez, printed by lithography, and issued by Honduras on June 25, 1993 as one of two stamps in a "National Symbols" set, Scott No. C900, plus a photo of a pair of scarlet macaws.
