Wow, I never thought I would get an answer here, but this just blew me away! A million thanks to everyone for taking the time to dig out this topic and give me some answers!

I will contact Dan right away. Thanks again for making this possible! Horst will freak out when he gets the documents :)

I wish you all the best,
Jörg

I thought I would add a little closure to this thread.

I recently received a nice picture of a smiling Horst holding the Meldungsbuch and Studienbuch I sent to Jörg along with some other material.

I've asked Jörg for permission to post the picture. I'll post the it if I am granted the permission.

It is nice to be reminded that there is more to this hobby than just chasing after our beloved little treasures.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

What a great story danstamp. You've reached the pinnacle of collecting postal / paper history when you were able to link it to a human involved in the original document on a personal level. Think of how remote the chances were before technology.
Please post the pictures.

Hi again. Sorry for the late reply, I somehow forgot about this topic. Please see the image of Horst and me below, just seconds after his tears have dried :)

And please, no jokes about my hair. I know it looked terrible that day :D

Jörg,

Thanks for posting the picture! I, too, forgot this thread.

I hope you and Horst are doing well! It was a real joy to be able to send that material to him!
