Here is the first of my own pages to be populated. (Previously posted on the Australian forum.) I use Corel Draw to create the sheets and have used every version since V.2, back in the 1980s. I used the Adobe Creative Cloud suite more recently but have gone back to Corel Home and Student version which is a real deal in comparison with Adobe CC. On top of that, it is what I'm used to and I found that Adobe CC has far more features than I would ever use. I do miss some of the features dropped in Corel Home and Student (printing imposition in particular) so I plan to go back to the full version soon. At less than $250 for the upgrade package, it is still a good deal..

So here is an example of the page inserts I am making to go between the Vario F pages in my stamp albums. Made using AlbumEasy. This will act as a "Key" so I know what stamp is which on the Vario page, without having to put any inserts into the actual pockets with the stamps.

I'm trying something a little different, to highlight the oddities in the stamp a little better. A few words at the top, a large picture in the background, and the actual stamp mounted on the same page. In some cases, the area of interest highlighted even more.

You just solved a puzzle I've had for 40 years. Back then I bought an FDC for QEII Coronation for Sierra Leone. It has the same purple ringed cachet that your Malta and Mauritius covers have. Naturally so does the Sierra Leone cover, but I thought the purple was because the Sierra Leone stamp itself is purple. I know assume all the covers had the purple cachet.

Here's a few more France pages that I've been playing around with. I think I like the layout.

I like using Excel, mostly because I know how to manipulate things. Using other formats makes me try to learn something new. Someone on this site told me a while ago that they thought it better to use black and white illustrations rather than color so that they don't compete with the stamps I actually have mounted on the page. I believe I agree with this. The Canada three leaf excise stamps have the "hidden letters" that I'm still trying to get all of. The stamps FX-52 thru FX-94 take up four pages like this. I left out FX-64b which is the same booklet pane but a booklet with two sheets of stamps instead of just one. Lots of revenues to go in my quest to make a complete album for these. (The 3c value for the booklet pane stamp is actually there but when I reduced the page to fit on the screen to get a clip of it, it was crowded out of the picture.)

After reading about it, I downloaded AlbumEasy. Seems like a winner but I really want to add a description for each stamp and can't figure out how to do it. To be honest the documentation is weak. If I'm reading correctly, the tool seems to allow 2 lines worth of info below a frame, but those lines are chopped into 2 rows of 3 minicomments.

To uboatnut: how did you encode the descriptive paragraphs in your QEII coronation and Canal Zone Official Stamps pages? Is there a way to all a small paragraph below a frame, withe the data actaully "attached" to the frame via encoding?

BwanaBob: It's really easy. Use the PAGE_TEXT_CENTRE command, like this...The text will auto-wrap if there's too much for the page width.

PAGE_START # page -31-

ROW_START_FS (HN 6 0.1 6.0)
PAGE_TEXT_CENTRE (TB 16 "Official Stamps")
PAGE_TEXT (HN 8 "Beginning in March, 1915, stamps for use on official mail were identified by a large 'P' perforated through each stamp. These were replaced by overprinted issues in 1941. The use of official stamps was discontinued December 31, 1951. During their currency they were not for sale in mint condition and were sold to the public only when canceled with a parcel post rotary canceler reading 'Balboa Heights, Canal Zone' between two wavy lines. After withdrawal Dec 31, 1951, all except O3 and O8 were made available to the public at face value for three months." 4.0)

STAMP_ADD_BLANK (5.0 5.0)
ROW_START_FS (HN 6 0.1 6.0)
PAGE_TEXT_CENTRE_VSPACE (HN 8 "1941 - 1947 Perf. 11" 3.0)
ROW_START_FS (HN 6 0.1 6.0)

You have several options for placing text on a page. You are not limited to just within, below, or above the frames. If you want more information, let's take it off the forum. Use the forum email to send me a message me and include your private email address along with your questions.

opinion needed. I have an image of the design on the first page of this design series (page 2) and this design lasted for several years, with a couple watermark changes. Should I put the same image again on each page or is just the first depiction on p. 2 good enough. Here is the image of page 5 as I have it currently with no design image.

@Uboatnut. I love your Canal Zone pages. I have been using Album Easy ever since the start and have printed a few thousand pages up until today. My collection is consisting of only about 85 stamps; the Transportation Coils of the 80's and 90's, and I found that the Album Easy pages are very easy to design, manage and change. They are also without a bunch of unnecessary clutter.

BwanaBob:

There were actually several different cachet designs used in the QE2 Coronation series. I did a fast tally of my complete collection and found I had 8 cachets used at least twice. There appears to be a geographical location associated with cachet designs, although I've seen FDCs for the same stamp on different cachets. This is just what I have. YMMV. That accounts for 63 of the 78 nations (81%) The remaining 15 nations' cachets are mostly unique, one of a kind FDCs.
