Airmail Covers Difference In Size Question.

I have a number of what I would call normal size US 6 cent airmail covers as shown on the bottom part of the picture.

The top cover is bigger and I have only one of these.

Am I right in thinking that there are less bigger examples than there are smaller ones?

probably a good assumption, but collectors like the small size for their albums so maybe more were saved

I would not attribute it to collector preference. The larger size ("Number 10") is going to be most common with respect to commercial (business) mail. The smaller size ("Number 6") is by far more common with non-commercial usage by individuals.
