Hey guys, first post here. I inherited some stamps from my grandfather, was just a random assortment of stamps in a big ziplock bag, I went through them and separated the older (pre-1935) stamps, and am in the process of putting them in chronological order in an album. I plan on selling them, I collect coins, stamps are just too fragile for me.

Have a few pages of the album sorted, the earliest stamps, and was wondering if it is even worth my time to try to sell these. Some of them seem to have some value, but I am lost on figuring out which of the various subtypes any of these are.

Any of your input would be greatly appreciated.

I can post close-up pictures of any stamps of interest.

Thanks guys!

Hi Crumble, and welcome to the forum. And yes, it is worth working on it. I must tell you, the first stamp you show is not pre 1935 - I believe it is part of a post war souvenir sheet. But all the others seem very good and authentic. If it was my collection I would first look for a local stamp club for input. If that does not pan out you should maybe contact an auction house that specializes in stamps. Good luck,

Peter

Thanks! I will look for stamp groups in San Diego.

Are any of these stamps particularly valuable? Or just a random assortment of stamps with minimum value?

Hard to tell - that is why I suggested a local stamp club for help. To look for a local stamp club go to www.stamps.org . Go to the stampcollecting button and click on local clubs. Just enter your ZIP code and you're there.

It's a random assortment of stamps with minimum value.

The last 2 - 2 1/2 scans have some items that are worth some further investigation - the ones with the unusual/private perforations - and all of the others on those couple pages, which require extensive knowledge/ability to analyze properly. But with 99.9% certainty, I can say that if you got $25 for the entire lot it would be a good deal. $50 if you scan each item carefully & get lucky. If that's not what you had in mind as being 'worth you time' then I'd say just sell the whole lot for what you could get. If you want to spend some time & do some research, it is possible there's a gem hidden in there somewhere - but can't see any obvious ones from the pictures you've posted...

The first 2 rows of the first scan have some nice items...but again, would need some work & not huge money...

There could be some good Washington/Franklin issues there, and maybe some desirable Shermac perfs as well. Hard to tell from the scan. You could market the Trans-Miss issues as a lot and maybe realize $10 but other than the first 2 rows there isn't much there. As far as I can tell. Good luck though. Wolf-==-

Would love to see close ups of the first two rows of the first scan. The second row, again first scan, 5th stamp from left has an interesting looking cancel.

You also want to look at the back of these stamps. I suspect thins and tears that are visible only from the back. This would greatly reduce the value of these stamps.
