I understand what War Tax stamps are for. My question has to do with identification of Die I or Die II. On the 1916 brown 2c "T" stamps that I have, I don't see any evidence of a clear horizontal line of color or short lines with any dots under the T. The catalog only lists brown as either Die I or II. Are the lines and dots supposed to be readily visible? I will appreciate any amplification. Thanks,

This topic is discussed in detail on my FlySpecker site at: http://flyspecker.com/war-tax.html

There is information on the relative scarcity of each die for the red and brown printings plus detailed information on other areas of the stamp that have differences in addition to the lines below 1Tc.
