There are several varieties of this stamps. There are difference in watermarks, perforations and paper types. It's really difficult for anyone of us to tell from a digital scan. The gum condition on back is a factor too. Damage to the back reduces value immensely whereas never hinged pristine gum raises the value. This German stamp could catalog for a few hundred to as low as a couple of bucks depending on factors above. Other people will post some online resources you can look at and a trip to a local library to find a Scott's stamp catalog would be help a lot too.

Magnat, you can use this forum to search for the answer. There are several ways. Use a black tray and a drop of Ronsonol lighter fluid is the most used. Sometimes shine a bright light behind it and it becomes visible.

Some German stamps are easy - flip it over and it can be seen. Other times if you can't see it so try Ronsonsol lighter fluid. Squirt a bit in a small black dish. Use stamp tongs and dip upside down stamp into fluid. It won't hurt the stamp and the fluid will evaporate over a little time.

Your stamp has 25 horizontal perforation holes and 17 vertical ones. There is only one issue that has 25:17 holes (war print of the 1905/1919 issue with low catalogue value) no need to check the watermark.

No need to check the watermark. Now that I've had an opportuninty to check the catalog, it's MiNr 97 B II / Sc 95. Catalog value of €4 for MH, €10 for MNH.
