Could someone with a catalogue more recent than mine be so kind as to tell me who is pictured on this 0.23 Euro Italian stamp engraved by Maria Magdalena Tuccelli? I generally only collect 'classic era' so my most recent Scotts only run to 1998 :(
This is the 3rd version of this stamp, issued in 2002 in euros only. Earlier versions were issued in 1998 (denomination in lira) and 1999 (denomination in lira and euro). The woman appears to be a guest at the Feast of Herod, or perhaps Herodias (mother of Salome). She is looking down at the severed head of John the Baptist, held by Salome.

That's why I wanted to see if I could put a name on her.
