I have a bundle of Queen Victoria stamps sitting on my desk, so I thought I would check the cancel dates on them and see if I could fill the calendar.

Here they are all laid out in order.

Short answer:- NO

Might have trouble finding the rest.

If you have those laid out from Jan-Dec from top to bottom, it is interesting to see how you are missing more stamps from May-October than anywhere else! Perhaps people only write when it is cold outside?

Great project, but I'd imagine it will get frustrating.

Page_fault, don't forget Australia is down under, those months that have the most stamps are our Summer months.
It's interesting to note that there is a stamp from January 1st. I guess it was not a public holiday back then.

I didn't even see they were Australian stamps; I thought they were UK! Does this mean Aussies hunker down and hibernate through the winter?

No, our winter is no where near as bad as yours.
We don't need to hibernate.

I tried with USA flag defins but gave up due to lack of dates. Only one in fifteen showed a date.
Thats just too many stamps to buy for a calender.

So I gave up.

Londonbus1...usually doesn't give up though.

Very cool! I know a guy doing this with Canadian stamps- trying to get a 1 cent stamp for every day of the year, by years, for something like a 30 year period!

Project of a lifetime? I'd say so!
