This June I'm riding in the Ride to Conquer Cancer to raise money for cancer research.
Please note, this is NOT a plea for money (unless you want to). In my fundraising efforts it occurred to me how slogan cancels were once used to raise awareness for causes such as this (cancer, tuberculosis/consumption, blood donation, you name it), or events, or milestones. So I thought it might be interesting to create an online collection of Cancer slogan cancels to raise awareness, just like they did in the good ol' days.

Oddly, although I am a collector of postal history, my collection HAS NO cancer slogan cancels. Ironic, no?

So I found this one at the Postal History Corner website, where there are others - http://postalhistorycorner.blogspot...ontario.html

So lets see your Cancer fighting slogan cancels. Doesn't matter what country, Canada, USA, England...anywhere!

Let's get a little collection going here, and raise awareness for the cause.

Cheers.

James

James,
Thank you for your post and efforts.

The past few years have been an incredibly exciting time to be involved with cancer (even if it is on the 'wrong side'). The cancer field has completely moved away from an organ-centric perspective to a genomic perspective. Researchers and doctors now understand that it has been incorrect to think in terms of lung cancer or pancreatic cancer and now think about cancer at the genomic level. And the cancer care providers, those fighting this disease on a daily basis, are no longer relegated to only administering God-awful poison and burn (chemo and radiation) treatments that totally crush the patients quality of live. Instead, they now often have immunotherapy choices which are not only very promising treatments but are night and day difference in our quality of life. This reduces stress not only on the patients and their families, but also the health care providers. As a patient who has experienced both approaches, I am here to tell you that the new immunotherapies are changing the entire cancer world. It is truly humbling that so many people have been fighting this disease on so many levels.

For those who may not be aware on how immunotherapy works, here is the overview. Some cancer cells 'hide' from your body by binding with a naturally occurring protein cells called PDL1. Once a protein cell has bound with a cancer cell, your body's immune system does not recognize the cancer cell as an invader will not act against it. The new immunotherapy drugs do not try to fight the cancer cells, but instead the break the bond between the PDL1 protein cell and the cancer cell. This then exposes the cancer cell to your body's immune system.

A huge thank you to all who have come before us on this journey towards a cure to this debilitating disease.

Thanks much for the explanation Don. That's exactly the kind of research that the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre in Toronto has been spearheading. And that's where the money goes (not that I'm asking for money, unless you want to).

Here are some US non-profit post paid corners, that I think come pretty close to the spirit of this thread.

Here is a 2-line version from the Universal machine. Apparently in Colorado the "week" ran until Nov 20, instead of Nov 18.
