Guys..

Just to let you know there are collectors as we speak trying to identify and standardize Canadian stamp colours...I was willing to be part of this endeavor with other major collectors.

This will be an ongoing process to achieve this huge undertaking.

In the mean time, here is a site to your stamps and see what colours (Remember your monitor, mine and everyone else's is different)your stamp is on HEX, RGB and CMYK...Good for what it can do.

That will tell you what color is encoded in the jpeg file at a particular spot. It won't tell you if the scanner generated it properly.

Still, it could have some use, and by observing raw data, possibly variances in scanners can be better accounted for. Certainly worth a look.

Hi Robert,
Is the project to standardize Canadian stamp colours or to standardize Canadian image colours?

As you know and as we have previously discussed, this is a huge difference.

Canadian stamp colours

Just a mickey mouse program for new or inexperienced collectors to play with to get used of colours.

I am talking to a few major collectors and BNAPS right now to standardize colours with calibrated machines.

It will be a massive undertaking.

Robert

The trade winds are blowing the wrong way at this time of the year !!

Those printed charts, I assume the colours are acccurate, must be much better than any web site. No matter how accurate the home site is for colour if the viewers monitor is not a high quality colour calibrated one used in the right viewing conditions it is going to be a waste of time.

René the problem is Canada Post.
Currently, international post arriving in Canada takes 1 to 2 months before it is delivered.
I have filed a complaint with Canada Post due to non-delivery of items but it hasn't made any improvement.
For example some ebay stamps I bought from Israel were sent by registered priority mail on the 15th January. Tracking via the Israeli post web site showed that it was handed over to Canada Post on the 18th of January.

Unfortunately, unlike almost every first world and most third world countries, Canada Post is unable to track foreign registered mail once it arrives in Canada so my item just disappeared into the void.
It eventually arrived yesterday more than two months after landing in Canada. This sort of ridiculously poor service is not the exception, unfortunately is is now the new norm for Canada Post.

I agree with anthraquinone, those Munsell colour chips are the way to go. Colour matching with a monitor is neither precise nor accurate.

So I'm not the only waiting & waiting! SG catalogs, Postbeeld, APS even... & Catawiki. All seem to take forever! I just hope they are lost to the Dead Letter Office or worse...
