Hi guys.

Anyone out there got a Scott 2802i stamp, may want to check whether or not they may have the same (possible) variety that my stamp shows.

A hole in the Chinese writing.

is it your scanner or my screen that your stamps are missing the gold colour?

Roert, I know nothing about these stamps, but I must compliment you on your pictures. They are beautiful - did you get a new scanner?
I noticed the improvement earlier in your post on the large Canadian stamp!

Opinion:
Gold or Silver is extremely hard to scan.
Oft times appears as black or brown.

I have no idea why stamp designers continue to use this medium,
in lots of stamps, the gold or silver is very difficult to read.

Wert - I know you wouldn't and that's why I asked if it was a scanner or screen issue.

Thanks Rod222 for your reply about scanning gold and silver.

Here's my scan of the same stamp.

Does anyone here at SCF know exactly how the gold color was applied? It is obviously letterpress printing, but is it a special foil used with hot stamping, or is it an ink? To my eyes, it looks like a hot stamping, because the impression is so deep, and there is no bleed around the tiny lettering.

If it is a hot stamping, I can give an explanation for wert's flaw. It is very easy for material to be scratched off the foil. So, this could happen without anyone seeing it during processing.
