Good Morning,

Just wondering if some of the experts on Stamp Community could identify these two perf 10 coil stamps for me. Having difficulty identifying either 599 or 599A.

Thanks

Neither one is a 599A.

Thank you both! I thought as much, but I believe it always best to get a second opinion. Didn't want to make a potentially BIG mistake.

Both are type I, and FWIW, neither appear to be genuine Scott 599 coils (both appear trimmed at top & bottom.) Why someone would try to fake a Scott 599 is beyond me, but there you go...

The best book I've found for identifying Washington Franklin issues from 1908 - 1923 is THE EXPERT'S BOOK by Pail W. Schmid. The book is extremely detailed and very easy to understand. It has helped me identify a few fakes I purchased in the past.

linkcod, this design would not be in the Schmid book (i.e. irrelevant to this thread), but I agree that it's an excellent reference for the earlier 1908-1923 Washington Franklin stamps.
