After years of looking, I found a respectable copy of the double transfer of the Star Match Company on watermarked paper. The middle stamp is a proof like impression to compare to the stamps with the double transfers. The top stamp, from the bottom row of the sheet, is the strongest of the two. Doubling is present mainly in the top area showing at the top of the curved ribbon on both sides and slightly at the top frame line. Doubling is also present at the bottom of the letters in "STAR". The bottom stamp shows a slight double transfer above the curved ribbon on both sides, the floral area beneath the "S" in "STAR" on the left side and the left side of the "P" in "PORTLAND". I hope there are collectors interested in my pictures of these plate varieties, there are several more reported by Mr. Richard Riley in his two articles published in The American Revenuer titled DESIGN DOUBLING ON US PRIVATE DIE STAMPS and his ADDENDA that I'm still trying to find.
Another dt on RO172d has showed up. This dt is in a downwardly direction on the horizontal line on the small star, on the top part of the letters of "ONE" and "CENTS" as well as the top part of "1" and slightly at the bottom. Will keep looking for others.
I have found another RO172d with another double transfer. This double transfer appears to be the best I have found so far. The doubling appears to involve the entire stamp slightly to the left and a little downward. The ovals at the top with the star figure and the bottom with the number one shows the lateral direction and "one" and "cent" shows the downward direction nicely.
