Have this 1889 cover with Chatt & Merid RPO -- I see others with agt. but not with Day.any ideas ? Thanks

An out-of-left-field-wild-guess is that it is a time indicator where other cancels of the period might have a more specific hour, --AM/--PM, in the middle of the dial.

That looks like a negative "N" in the killer, which does stand for "northbound"
