Line #5: how about reading the 2+3=5 as the sound "sum"?

That word was more commonly used back then:

But I get stuck there: I sum boots, I sum legs, I sum feet, I sum no idea.

Cheers,

Maybe line 5 is..
"I admire you" as the boots appear to be walking in mud.

StevieG,

Good job with Admire. So last lines could be:

I admire you.
You are a lone bird.
So I will prepare
for a mailed postcard.
tenderly yours.

I suspect the third line may be stating.....
"You are beautiful"

The "buggy" represents the letter "b"
The "U and T" are as read, although the T looks like an R
The letter "I" is highlighted in the "full" image.
The "f" is part of "of"
The last part showing the four images may represent "all"

There is a comma after the "buggy" picture that may be problematic or a deliberate ruse by the writer.

This interpretation may be completely off track, as well. However, the word beautiful is one that would appear to fit with the time (1909) and the writer's probable age?? What age do you think the writer is???

After reading all of this I have to wonder if the person who got this card in the mail had as hard a time reading it as everyone else here?

It might have been a short relationship after getting this card.
