Good Evening,

I have a Austria 1950 10s Gray - S.C. 556. What I'd like to know is if this is the "Flat white gum" variety. The gum to me looks flat and white. Just need someone to confirm please.

It looks more of a tan color to me.

My monitor has a white screen and the stamp is a totally different color.

Thanks dutchman. Your right, it doesn't appear to be that white. The description I see (from internet sources) for paper is "grey yellow". The description for the gum is "yellow and ribbed". The back is definitely not ribbed - definitely not yellow - so my only alternative according to my materials is flat / white. Maybe it is due to age or what the stamp was hinged on.

This is a picture of this stamp with all 4 of my monitors showing 1/4 of the stamp. You can see the differences in color per monitor.

Hi souldjer777

Scott doesn't mention anything about "Flat white gum"?

But the Austria Netto Katalog 2014/2015 shows some differences in
the ribbing and gum.

type x = horizontal ribbing (or where ribbing is not evident) = smooth gum

y = vertical ribbing

z = white fluorescent paper, rosa gum (flat gum)

Catalogue pricing

x either yellow or white gum 60 Euro for MNH
y 450 Euro MNH
z 70 Euro MNH )
