Community,

I recently sold my first two stamp lots on ebay. Do you see anything about these two lots that could be changed to improve them?

Many thanks!

I think you did a good job, and they sold so that's the important thing. I have 2 little suggestions. 1st I think a black background is a little better for stamp pictures. 2nd I always end my auctions in the evening, I'm not sure it matters but I'm afraid some bidders might have day jobs.

Good luck,

Ken

Good point, Ken. I try to consider time zones as well.

I like the big photos. More contrast on the back would help. It is hard to tell any detail.

Agree: High resolution scans, not photos. Matte black or neutral background because perforations are important.

Agree: Consider the timing for the ending. Don't list on a Sunday evening 1 week before the Superbowl.

To quibble, I would delete the grading part of the description and let the bidder judge the centering. To call the $1 stamp F/VF when the bottom perfs are severely scissor-trimmed is stretching the truth. The damage should have been mentioned in the description.

Agreed.

I wasn't about to reply, bit my tongue.
"Let the bidder Judge" is the importance.
Even the fresh and clean has issues.

Go easy on the text, and offer crisp clear scans (if one can afford it)

1. Black back ground works best.
2. On a scanner is even better
Is that a centerline stamp?
good luck

Execxent feedback, you guys do not disappoint. Many thanks!

There's huge variation in shipping charges keeping the item shipped constant (a single definitive / commemorative stamp). What do people factor in when setting shipping cost? Postage of course, also envelope, glassine, supportive stock paper, tape...

"Postage" should solely be actual postage costs, based on your local postal rates. It shouldn't include extraneous stuff, most of which is free or costs pennies.

Good show Pascoe !
The only thing that bugs a Canadian is "may not ship to Canada". Just sent a nice Cover to a friend in Texas....C$1.20 - What is the problem with Canada ?
I see that on a regular basis on US stamps that appear on ebay
