Michel is listing the two mentioned Sheet watermarks used on the 'Unwatermarked' San Martin issue of 1918. However, no illustration is offered, which makes it awkward to identify the smaller fragments on each stamp.
For anyone curious, this image (not mine...) shows part of the 'SERRA BOND' watermark:
Now, I was hoping anyone can share images of the full watermarks? Would be very useful reference for my custom pages. Much appreciated.
On the subject of papermakers watermarks on stamps of Argentina. I thought I might just as well share some more images I found after some searching.
'Lacroix Freres' can be found on 1867 Rivadavia issues, Michel #14a, 14b and 17, Scott #14-15-17
'STILLER & LAAS, BUENOS AIRES, LA UNION' can be found on 1889-90 Sarsfiel and Celman stamps, Mi#64 and 66, Sc#69-70.
Images of various Papermakers watermarks is typically something that is missing from general catalogs, not included in neither Scott or Michel . Will need the more specialized catalogs, but one cannot buy all the specialized catalogs out there. Luckily there are forums like this where people can share this kind of stuff. My sentiments to the Argentinian forum, where one of the members had generously shared on his forum in 2010.
Hahaha - yes, you can say that again! Both Argentina and Brazil takes a heavy toll on both the eyes and the stock of watermark liquid I'm just about to finnish of making my custom Argentina pages and moving on to....Brazil
Both Countries are interesting, history etc. You must know Brazil more than Argentina but watermarks are present and I try to collect unwatermk stamps
It will be fun to see your pages. I might do my own one of these rainy days and take the pages out of Vol. 1 of Scott - It is getting too voluminous .....and a friend from Seattle, WA, USA, is sending me "dups" from........Argentina
Rene, no worries about hi-jacking the thread - any stamp related chatter welcome

Appreciate the curiosity! I take that as an invitation to share some, so here are the first of my custom pages fro Argentina. Unfortunately the jpg images generated from the Powerpoint slides are produced in quite a low quality, so I guess it's nest to impossible to read any of the information I've deliberately made in 'minimal-reading-font-size'. (It's fully readable when printed, tough!)
My pages are starting off with forerunners/siderunners for foreign Post Offices in Argentina/Buenos Aires and then followed by the various pre-dessecor Provinves/States (unlike Scott listing them after Argentina)
Then cracking on with Argentina itself...
Pages for official stamps are slotted in by chronological order among the regular issues. That¨s just my preference to try following a time-line rather than 'hiding' all that interesting stuff at the back of the book
Many will notice the pages have many similarities with Steiner. And indeed, I have finally followed many of you guys example to modify Steiner rather than make my won from scratch myself. It is saving some time with regards to getting the sizes of the boxes right but it also slows me down as I am using lots of time to shift around and give room for all the stuff that is not accomodated for by Steiner and/or Scott. Example given the various watermarks on the follwing pages are rudely covered in Scott
The Department official pages in Steiner seems to me troublesome to use as there was neither design or Wmk reference, so did some work on them to, whilst reducing the number of pages from 24 to 18.
In total I have added spaces for about 200 varieties not accomodated in Steiner whilst reduced the page count with 15 pages less. Looking forward to actually populating the pages - they will be quite sparsely populated I'm afraid but that doesn't bother me the least
So what should we discuss about Argentina.....the "Perron ara" ????? History tells us that many Countries passed through (even the "French") and left their mark (watermarks) and in the hope of having true "experts" chat with us a little..... In a thread, there are passers-by (like me) and true " connoisseur".......we want them to Post !!!!
