A maybe not so popular defiintives series because of political sentiments is the Eva Peron issue of 1952. The lower values had been printed in offset-litho with the exception of the 45c that had been printed in recess!

The lower values in offset-litho had been printed on two groups of paper - imported paper odf Wiggins teape and so-called national paper of the Zárate paper mills.

All have the multiple "Sun+A#1071;" watermark. The paper mesh mostly has an a-symmetrical structure/binding of the web giving also the extra optical illusion of more or less horizontal lines [not to be confused with 'laid' paper!].

The Wiggins Teape paper has a parallel watermark plus the asymmetrical paper mesh.

We may find 2 positions of the 'parallel' watermark - parallel as the direction of the paper (vertical) is parallel to the direction of the letters - either the base of "A#1071;" facing left or right!

All lower values [except for the 45c] had been print on paper with a parallel watermark with an asymmetrical paper wire! Several values were later printed on so-called national paper. All values with national paper also had an asymmetrical paper wire but with an orthogonal watermark this time! Only a few values - 10, 20 and 25c - also had been printed on national paper with a symmetrical paper wire!!! They are scarce! The 25c in particular had never been described in Argentine philatelic literature before!

The 25c is not as obvious as the 10c, alas!

So far we hasve displayed several types of paper for the lower values: 1c-50c.

We have the following types of paper for them (the 45c excepted):

- Wiggins Teape, asymmetrical paper wire, parallel watermark, A#1071; ascending or descending! All values!
- Zárate, asymmetrical paper wire, orthogonal watermark, A#1071; upright or upside down! 1c, 10c, 20c, 25c, 50c
- Zárate, symmetrical paper wire, orthogonal watermark, A#1071; upright or upside down! 10c, 20c
- Zárate, symmetrical paper wire, orthogonal watermark, A#1071; upright or upside down! 25c

The last 2 types of paper are rather scarce if not extremely scarce [25c!]

How to recognize the symmetrical versions before we try to scan them :

10c, 20c have very long fibers - 10mm or even longer - at the front [the 1st Zárate has no fibers or medium length fibers - max. 5mm - at the front]; the back has visible indents - rhombos - as can be seen from the scans, no fibers!

25c has no fibers at the front and no fibers at the back! The back has a very smooth surface due to very finely ground fibers in the pulp! When I refer to visible fibers in the previous lines I mean the grooves of fibers that are no longer there, you can still see fibers that are clung together and form the solid paper mass!

The best-known national paper - with the asymmetrical paper wire - has quite some variation!

ranging from hardly any structure,

to quite clear ones:

Comparing the asymmetrical paper wire we see that the blue lines are mirrored:

@galeoptix - Thank you for adding to the thread. I am truly impressed with your knowledge and in-depth studies of paper types. As a more general World wide collector, that's way over my head!
