dynamode you probably hit the "jackpot" in color shifts for the 2nd issues of Floral Definitives - 1979-83 issues of Canada (mottled background) History: my dad, Oct 24, 1980, had received from Philatélie Québec this 2 cent stamp on (French: `papier cotelé`) or mottled paper.....which actually was Scott-Unitrade # 782 but even ignored or not known (at the time) by the Quebec Federation of Philately (Quebec is a Province of Canada). Hopefully others will add theirs. I have seen some pretty spectacular shifts in the past, that make my stamps look normal. |

dynamode,
this is quite interesting. I posted a normal "dad" stamp received in 1980 as a "variety" but today we know it is part of the 2nd issue of the Floral Definitives. Since he passed away in 1999, he cannot appreciate this.....he was quite an important Canada Collector and as a Newspaper-Printer-Owner man, he corresponded a lot with other Philatelists through "letters"....and even knew Kasimir Bileski, from whom he bought nice postal Stamps. (Saskatoon stamp center), even the rare Seaway Inverted. Kasimir Bileski was a noted Canadian philatelist and stamp dealer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He is best known for his discovery and promotion of the famous "Seaway Inverted" stamps of 1959. Wikipedia |

Robert,
Same Issues of Stamps, different presentations by dynamode, Hijacking, maybe not.....it is in keeping with the subject......Floral Definitives of Canada, 2 issues, 2 printers but I agree that we are not discussing "dates" Thanks for starting this thread, Robert ! Either we start another thread on "anomalies of the Floral Definitives" or we continue, with your blessing -

With Robert's O.K. I am discussing my findings on what I would call "printing differences" found in the Canada Floral Definitives. My dups do not have enough from the 1979 BABN printed (photogravure+steel engraving)t discuss these and it is very important not to compare the 2 Floral Definitive printings (1977-82 -CBN and 1979- 1983 - BABN) So here are a few with printing differences: Sc #781 1 cent Bottle Gentian....over 115 million printed. These are tagged Sc # 787 15 cent Canada Violet |
