I would agree with Johan. The first few words look to be "Wir sind ?? schon ..." which would be German for "We are ?? already ...". The handwriting makes it very difficult to decipher.
Wir sind zwar schon in Durban aber das macht ja nichts. Am letzten Sonntag, habe ich dich von Kapstadt aus anrufen wollte [sic], doch ruht da jeglicher Betrieb, auch Restaurants sind geschlossen. Ich werde den Versuch nun nicht wiederholen. Hoffentlich geht daheim alles gut. Herzlichst dein alter Vetter ...

I've certainly bought postcards inscribed in languages and/or scripts that I can't read. But if you're asking about postcards that we've received personally, the closest for me would be one that my Bulgarian friend wrote to me in Klingon. I had to sit down with my copy of The Klingon Dictionary, but I figured it out.
If the handwriting was written in Suetterlin (the old German script named after its creator, Ludwig Suetterlin) it would be much, much harder to decipher.
I've had a fair amount of practice, so I don't find Sütterlin or the earlier 19th-century German Kurrentschrift particularly difficult to read, provided they're well written. But if the handwriting is sloppy, it's a job of work.
I actually found ikeyPikey's postcard harder to decipher than most 19th-century German postcards.
