I've got a collection of envelopes with stamps like these from West Germany. All have postmarks from the early 1960s. I know virtually nothing about stamp collecting, and I'm curious about these, especially since West Germany isn't around anymore. Are these used stamps worth keeping?

12 years ago, I was wondering why I kept Great Britain Machins,
there was thousands of the blighters.
I put them away in glassines, who knows why?

Now I am happily, filling my Machin pages from the buckets I saved....

Worth keeping if you are interested in West German stamps, usages, post marks, etc. -- sure. Worth keeping because they can be sold for cash money -- doubtful.

Many early period West and East German stamps have decent catalogue values and are priced accordingly, from the first stamps issued after the Occupation stamps, 1949 to around 1956. After that prices are mostly very reasonable. Germany is a huge topic, from States to Empire, Reich to Occupation, West & East, Berlin, Colonies and Re-united Germany. Popular with many collectors.
