Quote: Rare 1899 George Washington used stamps lot of 9 items Different Conditions most are poor and some almost fair. These extra's will definitely sell because 1899 is to hard to find in any quantity. Many want at least a collection to say they have one. Bidding of 9 items. Couple of these have multiple of same stamp glued to the back of the other. For this reason there might be actually 11 or 12 in total the others glued by stamp backing over time. Many are still vibrant. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-stamps-...AOSwBkRaGhiC*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I'd bet this guy has never heard of the Scott catalog. He refers to '1899' stamps- possibly he's had more exposure to coin collecting. Most of his feedback is for old automotive books.
Oh well, it's comedic relief. |

If I had a nickel for every ebay auction of "worthless" stamps being offered for ten to hundreds of times their value, I would be able to afford all the stamps I would like to have (well not really but close). If there was one feature I wish ebay would add to their search capability it would be to not show any auction for which there are zero bidders. |

Seems like a lot of "rare" stuff on ebay. Sometimes I write just to have fun and ask why it's rare. Usually no response. |

Some place very old common stamps into frames and sell them for very high inflated prices to unsuspecting non-philatelists who think that all old stamps are rare. |

Last year I saw a "Green Ben Franklin Stamp" "error" offered for bid on e-Bay. I e-mailed the seller asking what the error was, as I couldn't see one. He e-mailed back: "They didn't perforate the top and bottom of the stamp." |

Hmm... At least it's a low start price? Looks like they have been "antiqued".

I've been sitting on a gold mine all these years! I CAN FINALLY QUIT MY JOB!!! |

Just sent seller a note: "Sorry" "Not rare, not 1899, in damaged condition has no value to a stamp collector" |
