Identifying Postage Due Stamps

Can anyone tell me what country these stamps are from, and offer any other information about them? Thanks.

Well, it's in English and denominated in cents, which narrows things down a little bit: US, Canada, many of the British/ex-British countries especially in the Caribbean and the Pacific (though much of those only adopted decimal dollar currency in the last 50 years or so).

Now some of those countries had rather primitive postage dues (St. Lucia, Fiji, e.g.) but not that primitive. Seriously, it looks like it was printed with a carved potato and an ink pad, and perfed with a sewing machine. (Make stamps at home, it's fun!) I'd suspect a cinderella of some kind -- even the training stamps that used to be used in business schools would be better produced than that -- maybe a total fantasy created by some collector?

What is the source of the image, scans of yours or from the net? If the letter, please post a link.

They are crudely produced and do not match anything of which I am aware.

The stamps are mine, not images from the Internet. The collection whence I found them was mostly U.S., Pacific Islands and South East Asia and formed in the 1930s and 1940s.

A photo of the reverse shows the gum remaining, as well as a better view of the perforations. Clearly, the front, back and sides are all quite primitive; crude is such an ugly word. As for the potato theory, I can neither confirm nor deny. But if true, said spud is long gone.
