I've always had a "thing" for Australian coil issues, but as my collecting choices have narrowed, I've decided to offload some. I thought I'd share some of the images I've made for the listings

I always thought it was interesting that they created the special perforations for some of the coils. Like the first one you displayed where the holes are bigger in the center instead of just cutting them into strips and joining the edges.

Do you know why this was done?

The coil perfs were simply for ease of separation. The coil machines could be quite "grabby". The special perfs allowed easy separation from the sides, and normal separation in the centre. This increased the odds of the stamp coming off in one piece.

It's also nice to find the now-redundant coil machines in-situ. I photographed this one in Ross, Tasmania, in 2017
