I'm having trouble with an ebay return. The seller was reluctant to give me a refund -- claimed I was naive not to assume the items were forged! But now I have been refunded, but without the postage costs for the item going either way. As I understand it, sellers are supposed to refund postage both ways. How do I complain to ebay about this? Sorry, but its the first time I've had such trouble with a seller.

ebay states that it is on the buyer, including the return postage. But my question is how to complain to ebay about it? they say I should contact them if I have trouble getting the seller to pay the postage, but my attempts to find how to do this within ebay only result in a runaround -- I keep getting directed to 'useful' help pages which arent any use at all. |

If you don't mind telling us, what postal charges are you trying to recover? If only a couple dollars or- in your case- a Pound or so- to me that is not worth all the bother. |

The only thing I have found so far is a page which tells me how to proceed starting from the item in my purchase history, but the item is no longer in my purchase history, for some reason. |

The postal charges are 4 pounds each way, which is 8 total. I'm also quite annoyed by the seller's attitude. |

I think whether you can reclaim the money may depend on whether the item was wrongly described. |

steveh Have you opened an SNAD case with ebay? Have the items been returned to the seller with tracking? I assume this is an international sale which are a nightmare on ebay unless done carefully and as well, you have to deal with UK law if they were purchased from the UK. |

On the item page, what was the sellers refund policy. Did it state return postage to be paid by buyer ?. You have been refunded, and we can presume you still have the item in your possession. If the seller wants the item returned, tell them to pay the postage or go whistle. |

Dutchman -- Sorry, I don't know what a SNAD case is. I asked the seller for a refund, which they wouldnt do, so I opened a case with ebay for a return and refund, but I don't know if this was a SNAD case. As the reason for return I gave that the item was a forgery. The seller has been consistently hostile and unpleasant -- her attitude all along has been pretty much -- "You bought it and I've got your money -- tough s**t.". I returned the item Royal Mail signed for, and I assume they received it today as they gave me a refund - minus any postage costs. This is a UK sale -- both myself and seller are UK-based. |

'Significantly Not As Described'. All of this depends upon the listing and description, why not post the link (or simply the ebay item number) to the listing so people can offer their opinion? Without that, people are throwing darts in the dark. Don |

Dynamode --
The original listing said "no returns accepted", but as I understand it you can write that kind of thing on your listing without it affecting the purchaser's statutory rights in any way.
Especially as this is not a case of 'buyer remorse', but finding that the item was a forgery. |

What was the ebay item number? If you paid with paypal you can log into paypal and look up the transaction to find the number. Should be a 12 digit number. |

I don't know what the rules are in the UK but here if a significantly not as described ( SNAD ) was filed, a return label should have been sent to you and you should have been refunded including original shipping.
What are the exact rules in the UK and what type of case did you open?
Has the case been closed yet? |

Ah. You did not say you had already returned it. £4 postage each way is steep for a stamp. Can we presume its not a single stamp ?.You are being a bit vague. |

Sometimes sellers demand that they get the item back first before they issue a refund. |
