I'm trying to ID these two stamps - both have the WM4 Multiple Crown and Script CA - both are Die 1. Looks like one is on yellow paper and the other is on white. I appreciate the help and thanks!
According to the Stanley Gibbons Catalogue, there are four possible variations of the 10c purple on paper watermarked Multiple Script CA (Type 4).
Shown below is the description, issue date, Gibbons (SG) number and Scott (ST) number.
10c Purple on Pale Yellow Paper - Die I - 1923 - SG231 - ST191a 10c Purple on Pale Yellow Paper - Die II - 1926 - SG231a - ST191 10c Purple on Bright Yellow Paper - Die II - 1932 - SG231b - ST191 10c Purple on Bright Yellow Paper - Die I - 1933 - SG231ba - ST191a
The top stamp on your display appears to be on the Pale Yellow Paper, and is definitely Die I. So I would guess that it is SG 231, ST 191a. The paper colors really show up better when looking at the back, so that could be wrong.
The bottom stamp appears to be a changeling. The only white back in this series was issued on paper watermarked Multiple Crown CA (Type 3).
How bizarre... Yes, now I can see spots of yellow on the bottom stamp. It's a changeling. Incredible what some stamps can turn into. Thank you for the help!
