Way back when, I used to sometimes send a brief courteous message to sellers I felt were just ignorant telling them where to get information about the value of their stamp(s). I stopped doing that after being, among other things, reported for 'auction interference', cussed at, insulted and in a couple cases ridiculed for collecting stamps. Most of these sellers are dumber than a box of rocks. Suggesting they hold onto whatever worthless thing they are selling and maybe start a collection is wasted time. They want a quick buck; they have no interest in our hobby. Best to let them waste their fees and learn the hard way.
Yes, I thought of contacting this guy, selling a stamp "only for collectors who knew value of stuff they collecting", but why waste your virtual breath?
True, the seller should research what he has before listing, but the mistake is not wholly his. The article that he quotes from alternativeinvestingcoach.com refers to an 1867 "Z" Grill 1¢ Franklin, which is SC# 85A (my 2005 Scott Pocket Catalog values at it $935,000), however they show the SC# 300 image with the article. They also picture a pair of the 2013 $2.00 Inverted Jennys with their description of the 1918 invert. I e-mailed the alternativeinvestmentcoach to tell them of their mistake. Don't know if they will change to the right stamp images, though.
