Granted my eyes aren't what they used to be and my scanning capabilities are..., well, they draw a huge vacuum! (they suck!) But this R44c just seems FUZZY all over, almost like it was out of focus when they printed the revenue.
This is a wet print. The paper had to have a moisture content of about 10%-13% when printed. Too little and the ink would not stick, and too much and the print becomes muddy. This is an example of too much. Butler & Carpenter had to rush the first issues because the money was desperately needed to fund the war and the immediate post war eras, so they were often sloppier then they would have otherwise been.
