I have a stamp similar to Scott Catalog 720 but it is blue; not dark violet or light violet. I found it in a lot of stamps that I bought from a private collector. Does anyone know if this is a faded version? Or am I just not finding it in the catalog?

Hi Eng9fire, and welcome to the forum. It looks to me like your stamp is chemically or environmentally altered,

Peter

I would blame light exposure for the shade.

For actual data: I have several ongoing light exposure experiments. Here is a damaged stamp of similar color I cut in half on November 29, 2016. I placed the lower half on a sunny south-facing window sill. Today (July 16, 2018), after about 1 year 7.5 months the exposed half is blue. (It's been this blue for some time, but this thread reminded me to check on it.)

Thanks everyone. I thought it might be a faded version but it was the only one out of about 20 that was that color. The Scott's Catalog I have is very good about listing similar stamps but it did not have a different listing for this one besides 721 and 722.
