Hello,
As I mentioned in my introductory posting I inherited an old stamp album from an uncle which I have been going through with much interest using borrowed Scott catalogs from the library.
Unfortunately the library only has one set of Scott catalogs available for lending and as other people are sometimes waiting for one of the volumes I am often without a catalog.

I am not yet ready to buy my own Scott catalog, it is a huge expense for a hobby which may or may not turn out to hold long term interest for me. Besides which, even if I had my own Scott it would not help with my immediate problem, that is I am considering that I would like to collect locomotive and railroad stamps, I have spent hours and hours going through Scott trying to find countries with railroad stamps but it does not seem very productive.
Is there a list or perhaps a catalog of only railroad and locomotive stamps from various countries?
Thanks,
StampAllen

Yes, there probably is. I must refer you to the American Topical Association and their website, www.americantopicalassn.com .
Also, Scott ( the one from the catalog ) has just in the past week issued a new railroad album. Too bad it only covers the Americas

If you want a set of catalogues cheaply it is often possible to buy older editions for very little money - I bought a quite up to date set - they were even illustrated in colour - of the Gibbon whole world catalogue for the postage plus 1p per volume. I'm sure the same would be possible for the Scott catalogue
