I am curious to know the longest lengths of time that have elapsed after submitting an item for expertization.

I'm a few days shy of five months on one particular item.

Thanks.

Contact the expertizer that you sent it to and make an inquiry about it. I have found out the hard way several times that the best way is to contact someone about something of concern rather than to worry, wait and hope that they will contact me about it.

Yes I have been periodically checking in with them as to the status. The latest news was that they have not come to an opinion on it yet but no details. Very anxious.

I had a cover take about 9 months once at the PF.

It came back with a decline opinion on a date which was hard to read, and which mattered materially as to what the item would be declared to be.

WOW! And I thought 9 weeks was a long time for some Canal Zone singles.

That is an incredible length of time!
In my case, it is a mint stamp.

Taking months would lessen my confidence some since it might indicate that they are seeking more opinions or further research. A slam dunk would typically not take that long.
