I have a pile of old Stamps magazines (H.I. Lindquist publication) from the mid 1970's to the late 1980's complete or close to complete, but out of order (moved multiple times). The pile is about four feet high. My wife wants to put them in the recycling bin. Do they have any value?

Short answer probably is no. If they were from an earlier era there might be more interest; I have a full run of that magazine in bound volumes from inception in 1932 to the late 40's. I treasure them, but if and when I am no longer here I fear they my well be recycled.

If I was in the US I would snap them up.
I buy my Australian Stamp Magazines from my Stamp Club, and their local auctions, I don't pay a great deal, but they do have worth, it makes me cringe when collectors want to 'bin" material.

edmusal: welcome to the Forum. If you happen to live near one of the philatelic libraries, they may want those magazines for their collections. You can try a query to the American Philatelic Society ( www.stamps.org ). On the home page at the top, click on Services and scroll down to Library. Open that page and click on Philatelic Libraries on the left side.
