Check this out on this Scott 1361a pair of stamps...We have all seen pieces of paper stuck to plates causing a "no print" area on stamps, BUT 12 pieces stuck on one stamp..How odd is that.

Robert

Here is a colour sample taken of 'No print" area and the edge of the stamps..They are identical, proving pieces of paper were adhered to the plate temporary.

The large number and irregular shapes of the unprinted areas - and the flecks of ink within the unprinted area do not suggest adhering bits of paper to me at all. I would search for another theory.

Well John...You got me thinking..I grabbed a extreme magnifying glass and it is white ink splatters on the face of the stamp..Now to figure out where they came from since there was NO white ink printed on this stamp.

Why would all white ink have to be applied in the printing process? Your stamp is used. It has been many places.

Nearly every home/office in the era of your stamps had a bottle of opaque white Wite-out correction fluid. Slow to dry, easy to spatter, easy to blot onto another object. I would go in that direction.

John you bugger, I think you nailed it on the head...It has the consistency of white out.

Thanks. Robert

Not only am I finding more "Snow flake" varieties on Scott 1361a stamps, but have found what I call "Snow avalanche" variety on a Scott 1358a booklet stamp below.

Robert

The spill goes between the red arrows and the regular colour of the stamp is between the yellow arrows as shown below.

Another odd thing is the stamp is copy righted in 1988 by this stamp was issued 1992 as shown below.
