Was This A Common Event Cover Interpex 1972 Apollo 16?

I found this cover and haven't been able to find our really anything about it except that the commemorative sheet was issued at the 1972 Interpex. I have tried to find the value of this cover with no previous sales on line.

I believe what you have is an event cover. The First Day of Issue was August 2, 1971, making this cover about six months later.

The other clue is the paste-on cachet label at left.

Value might be $1-$2 to someone interested in Aero/Astrophilately.

Hi Stampman, Yes I knew that but I have search for hours and can't find this label except for one unused for sale. none on cover. I assume these we prepared at the show??

No, not at the show, but for the show. These would have been prepared either by the society who used them or by a member of the society and then used at the show in lieu of cachet directly on the envelope.

The same practice was used sometimes in the past as well.

Event covers like this one are fun to collect because you can find them in 25 cent boxes at stamp shows and on the big internet auction sites for similar prices. They are purely philatelic and concocted for all sorts of minor events which makes them in interesting to research. You can put together a large collection of them for very little money.
