My new acquisition. I finally have an extremely rare 1959 QE II 5d stamp imperforated at left between the stamp and sheet margin. Only 10 of these varieties exist. I am preparing an exhibition display for a competition that will be held at the Commonwealth Collectors Club next year. My subject will be "Varieties and Errors of Australia".
I sure will. I'm nearly finished with the draft of what stamps I'll be using, though it may change when the competition gets closer as who knows what stamp(s) cross my path before then.
I have a few very interesting items, I know that that the security is very good at the club, obviously, I'm very protective of my collection.
Just 8 of the stamps are valued (current market value) at $15,625, altogether there will be around $20,000+ when the display is finished (probably no more than 20 stamps).
It's going to be impressive (being biased here), I'll be against collectors that will give me a tough challenge, but it is all for fun and it is going to be an educational experience as many of the members are very knowledgeable about varieties and errors, two such notables that are members of the club I go to are Michael Drury and Geoff Kellow.
I'm also doing the finishing touches of a meeting presentation for 2019 titled:
"BRITISH COMMONWEALTH OCCUPATION FORCES – JAPAN 1946 B.C.O.F. - JAPAN 1946 Period of issuance 1946-1949 OVERPRINTS
It will include a double overprint on cover, only two exist, and hopefully an RAAF BCOF on cover.
