A question for anyone who has the Michel catalogue for Russia (I obviously don't...), and I promise not to ask for a compete cross reference. Having a bit of an issue though translating the Michel numbers to Scott for identification purposes. So, if anyone can confirm my guesses? Scott 27 and 28 are Michel 25x and 26x? Scott 31 is Michel 29? Scott 47 and 48 are Michel 42y and 43y? If so, what Scott equate to the Michel series 41-47x? It seems that their groupings don't align very well with Scott's in this area. I'm usually able to make the transition, but in this era of woven/horizontal/vertical and varnished paper versions, its pretty tough without seeing and understanding the Michel descriptions. Thanks for any pointers. John
As best I can tell from comparing the two catalogs:
MiNr 24 x -- Sc 26 MiNr 25 x -- Sc 27 MiNr 26 x -- Sc 28 MiNr 27 x -- Sc 29 MiNr 28 x -- Sc 30
MiNr 24 y -- Sc 26a MiNr 25 y -- Sc 27b MiNr 26 y -- Sc 28a
For MiNr 29-36 / Scott 31-38, Michel catalogs the perf varieties separately, whereas Scott doesn't, so Michel ends up with about twice the catalog listings for this set.
MiNr 40 x -- Sc 41 MiNr 41 x -- Sc 42 MiNr 42 x -- Sc 43 MiNr 43 x -- Sc 44 MiNr 44 x A -- Sc 45
MiNr 40 y -- Sc 57C MiMr 41 y -- Sc 60 MiNr 42 y -- Sc 63 MiNr 43 y -- Sc 66 MiNr 44 y A -- Sc 68 MiNr 44 y B -- Sc 68a MiNr 44 y C -- Sc 68b MiNr 44 y D -- also Sc 68b
MiNr 45-56 x -- Sc 46-54 MiNr 45-56 y -- Sc 55-57, 58-59, 61-62, 64-65, 67, 69-70
