I have three 3" and one 2" Scott National binders with the Great Seal of the United States in gold embossed on the front cover of each. Does anyone know where these were sold, and what the price at the time compared to a regular National Album of the same size? I have had these for quite awhile(purchased at auction) but never see any for sale anywhere. Someone suggested that they may have been for the older hinge-less types. The words UNITED STATES and SCOTT are printed in gold on the spine. Anyone know about these?

Those sound like the fancy Scott U.S. National hingeless album binders. Those binders were padded brown vinyl and had, I believe, gold end papers inside them. They were sold for a while a few decades back. The pages were the same pages used in the regular National album, but they had clear mounts attached. Unfortunately, Scott's method of attaching the mounts allowed the glue to clearly be seen from the back of each page. Not very attractive, in my opinion. And they cost a lot more than the regular National pages, so that experiment didn't quite work. But the binders were fine! Nothing wrong with them. They fit all Scott National and Specialty pages with the two rectangular holes in them.

Thanks for your reply. I do really like the binders, they are fine looking and was hoping to purchase more for a gift. I had searched all of the dealers and could find none listed such as them. I will just keep watching the auctions and ebay for others.
