Each item whether it is an envelope or postcard had production data on the envelope or postcard. The data on the envelopes is on the back and on the postcard it is on the front. Data included has the designer, where it was printed and the number printed.

Does anyone on this group know how to ID a TPO (travelling Post Office) or RPO (Railway Post Office) marking on the cancels of items that have been postmarked? I have read articles, but I guess one needs to be able to read, fluently, the Russian Language. Any help, what to look for, etc.? Thanks

Yes, you do have some Russian TPO postmarks. You have some what are called postal wagon postmarks. Check the link for details - http://www.tpo-seapost.org.uk/tpo2/tprussia.html

I wonder if anyone here can help me identify a postal stationery issued in 1950's depicting a painting of Ivan Shiskin.

Many thanks for creating this thread.

The title says: "Soviet Postal Stationery" which I interpret as: "Stationeries issued by the Soviet Union with postally imprinted postage stamps", but suddenly we are back in the Russian Empire looking at TPO cancels from that period. Please stay on topic.

The Soviet Postal Stationery that are shown in this thread are of the type that were issued after Stalin died in 1953 - with much less hardline propaganda/slogans and with views of the different Soviet republics. I have browsed my collection of Soviet Postal Stationery and will be back when I have scanned them with an introduction.

***NOTE: Thread Bumped"***

Baltija,
Please note when you 'bump' (revive an older thread). This helps greatly since many folks do not notice and may start replying to old posts by people who are no longer here.
