So, going through my boxes of covers trying to sort then out, I came across this one so to try and date it I was wondering if it is a 10 or 10A?

Thank you in advance....

Not the most experienced in these, but I see a Cat Value of $160.00 usd, not counting on a cover and all the things that come with a cover and post mark, location, etc--

The color? Dull Red vs Orange Brown. This one definitely looks red to me.

Just went and got my 1960's stanley Gibbons colour guide and it matches Orange-Brown.
I went off the solid colour in the oval under Georges chin.
Cheers

Sorry team
It must be the monitors or something
The closest match is Orange-Brown the others are nowhere near the stamp colour the Orange-Brown is the closest, but, Stanley Gibbon, not Scott colour guide, that may make a difference....
Cheers

To identify the difference between the 10 and 11 stamps, is more than just color. By definition, 10 and 10A, must come from specific plates and it's better to have the stamp plated to truly identify whether the stamp is 10 or 11. The plates that the 10 and 10A stamps come from, were only in use for a few months and because of that the impressions are much more detailed than the impressions on the 11 stamps. By looking at your stamp there's no way that it can be a number 10A, just from the impression. And it is not the orange brown color that you would see with a 10 or 10A, which is a much deeper color than your stamp.

Here is an example, and hopefully you'll see the difference:

Hope this helps, Ray
