these stamps are from an old stock book from the 1960s and their were a few hundred labeled #65 but going thru them some of them had the Grill some are 11 by 16 and 12 by 16 maybe 17 on one But the gum is old and thick and hard to tell.I had seen that these carry a higher value but need to have a certification but being on disability from the service and VA funds are tight and I realize that if the stamps have the cert I could sell them and make some money but I need to know if it is worth while to pay the $20 each their are 13 of them 11 with out bad damage I have scanned them high res and have scans for you to view thanks Austin

Hi cannon, and welcome to the forum. If I were in your shoes I would take these to a local stamp club meeting and ask their opinion. You can find info on a local club by going to www.stamps.org and click on the "stamp collecting" button. Then click on "local clubs" and go to "step 1", put your ton or state in the box and thee is all the clubs in your area. Contact one that is close to you - usually they have a way of taking a disabled person to a meeting. Good luck,

Peter

Hi AJ
Thanks I have a question is their a website that has the actual colors like the pigeon blood one.and the rose and pink ones I know the pink one is easy but the others are so close at its hard to tell/

Also on the top row far right that stamp has a odd grill it looks like because the top 2 or 3 rows look smaller I mean the prymids don't go all the way across and also 2 of the stamp are on very thin paper I mean thin I have a Mitutoyo Micrometer and the 3 measure 0.001- and the other 10 are 0.003-0.004 and the ones with the glue are a bit thicker naturally

Like I mentioned did they have some that were not full lines and if you had these which ones would you consider getting graded thanks Austin

Hello Here's some better images of # 4 Stamp I guess that corner broke off or was clogged up but the paper which is very thin .001/1000 thin isn't distorted so whats your thought does this take away also it measures

Stamp 4 0.542 h by 0.386 wide 9.8 mm wide by 13.77 mm high

Stamp 5 .500 h by .383 wide 9.73 mm wide by 12.7 mm high

I found this info on the grills on the net

Stamp 5 .500 h by .383 wide

Welcome.
More info on grills

Determining stamp colors using images and differing color monitors is dicey (at best).

Thanks 51 Studebaker
Your Grill Info is very good Now I understand a bit more.I started collecting when I was like 6 back in 1970.My Grand dad was a Postmaster in NH and when he passed I got his stamps believe it or not I did have the 1st stamps used and a bit beat up but had them didn't have the jenny but had all the full sheet from 1921 up to 1960 it was a stack close to a foot high but our house burnt down in 81 and all was lost but for a book I had in school.

It seemed like stamps were more costly back then then now I guess its because of the internet and the ease of obtaining collections so easy.

I only just got back into them because I need to kill time since i'm on disability from the military and I can't run my machine shop anymore because of the lupus and tool and die work takes some thinking and its effecting my thinking now and I almost got hurt bad when I didn't tighten the 3' by 30 ' 4140 steel bar for a Howitzer GB Cannon Kind of sucks because I had a contract for napoleon Cannons for the Royal Canadian Mounties and just bought a cnc lathe I just sold my Bridgeport and the lathe and thats why i'm buying stamps and will leave them for my son in a few years.

Hows the Auctions here do stamps sell I have a lot and need to sell some to get more

Thanks Again Austin USN USS Boulder LST 1190

Hi kscannons. Those stamps are surely collectible, but all of them have major faults and would not sell for enought for a cert to be economical.
