According to the leaflet received from the Federal Govt, it looks like a new stamp is due to arrive on Oct 17. It would be interesting if it can be posted here, for those who may see one. Each Province will use a different color so we'd like to see one for each. (look at 3rd par on the attached Government notice)

Hi Gilles. I know it is happening, "up in smoke", in Canada, eh! I posted it under general news, as there will no doubt be collectors from all countries looking to obtain used copies of these new excise stamps from all provinces and territories. They do remind me of the present cigarette stamps I have seen.
Yes, only used copies will become available. And what kind of condition will we get them in will be another thing. No doubt they will seal the package and unless the person opening it tries to save the stamp, or is a collector, they will no doubt just break it like cigarettes.
Mint stamps will not be available to anyone except for the packagers of goods. It will be illegal to possess or buy unused stamps according to government rules. The website gives specifics about them.

Battlestamps, Maybe, but you will only be able to buy the stuff at only a few approved government liquor stores in Nova Scotia. Only one for the whole of Cape Breton Island. And if not mistaken, you will be allowed to posess not more than 4 growing plants inside your property, but not outdoors. Each province has different sellers and regulations. I think there will be lots of "headaches."

Yes Robert, and in so many different ways. I can't help but laugh at this happening.

I am waiting for headaches to start cropping up at the Canada US borders, especially if anyone has been smoking in their car. |

Here are the thirteen different stamps. From what I understand, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will determine and advise each individual purchaser of the stamps how much they must pay for an order of five hundred (500) stamps after said person/company applies and describes the products sold to which the stamp applies. The seller must be approved to be able to buy the required stamps. It appears to be quite complicated as the cost of each stamp is based on the contents of the individual seller's contents in the package of cannabis. Alberta - bright red. British Columbia - blue green Manitoba - gray New Brunswick - dark red Newfoundland & Labrador - mustard yellow Nova Scotia - purple North West Territories - brown Nunavit - navy blue Ontario - yellow Prince Edward Island - bright green Quebec - light blue Saskatchewan - emerald green Yukon - burgundy Stamp collectors will only be able to obtain used stamps, never a new stamp. |

I know of only one person who will probably purchase legal cannabis and am suggesting that If I can get 13 Ontario used excise stamps that I will trade one Ontario for one of each of the remaining 12 stamps on a one-for-one basis. I can see that as a cheap way of obtaining all 13 excise stamps from the initial printings. Now I need someone in each of the other jurisdictions to get 13 of their's as well. |

I do not believe there will be any weights, values or anything to determine the price paid for each stamp. The duties and taxes being paid by the packagers of the products will be based on the gram weight, and type of product/ seeds. The unique identifiers being the number on the stamp itself will be the only differece besides color from what I know. I have copied the Government of Canada appropiate webpages to my previous thread in news regarding duties and taxes on these stamps. https://goscf.com/t/63911 |
